Job Summary
The Credit Review Officer is responsible for conducting comprehensive credit assessments of commercial and corporate borrowers, evaluating loan proposals, and providing independent credit recommendations that support sound lending decisions. The role ensures effective credit risk management through thorough financial analysis, portfolio monitoring, and adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk governance standards. Working closely with business units, the Credit Review Officer contributes to maintaining a high-quality credit portfolio while balancing business growth and risk management objectives.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and proactive coordination with Institutional Banking Segment (IBS) counterparts regarding the submission of pre-approval documents and the effective management of assigned accounts in partnership with the Lending Officer.
- Prepare the Evaluation and Recommendation for Credit Accommodation (ERCA) for the renewal of IBS credit facilities in accordance with Bank policies and agreed service level standards.
- Validate information and supporting data submitted by lending units as part of the credit evaluation process.
- Assess collateral-related concerns, documentation exceptions, and corresponding mitigating controls in relation to the credit review.
- Identify and evaluate policy and regulatory exceptions to ensure a balanced assessment of risks and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Prepare financial spreadsheets and conduct financial analyses for new borrowing clients. Review and assess ERCAs prepared by IBS for the establishment of credit facilities when required.
- Determine and evaluate credit risk ratings and classifications, ensuring that these remain appropriate, accurate, and relevant at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accountancy, Accounting Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Management, Economics, or related disciplines.
- At least three (3) years of relevant credit experience, preferably involving commercial and corporate lending.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis and assessment.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work proactively, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience as a Commercial and/or Corporate Credit Analyst.
- Experience as a Commercial and/or Corporate Relationship Manager.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with relevant experience in leading accounting firms is an advantage.
- Experience as a Credit Officer handling commercial and consumer loan portfolios.
