Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role within the FSD Manila Support Unit, reporting directly to the Head or Deputy Head of the Unit, or to their designated Supervisor. This position may also oversee a small team of accountants, making it a key part of the finance and administrative structure. 

 

Operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Senior Accountant will provide support to both headquarters and project operations. The role requires close coordination with FSD's headquarters, field offices, and internal departments including HR, procurement, payments, and the Risk Fund. 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The roles and responsibilities of the Senior Accountant are: 

 

  1.  Financial Data Management 
  • Entering and review financial transactions into the computerized accounting system (MS Dynamics). 
  • Generating account balances and analyzing transaction details. 
  • Processing payments, filing and archiving relevant documents. 

 

  1.  Reporting and Compliance 
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial reports for headquarters. 
  • Preparing monthly financial reports for field offices.   
  • Reviewing budget vs. actual expenses and ensuring timely preparation and submission of donor financial reports. 

 

  1.  Budgeting and Forecasting 
  • Preparing and reviewing budgets for proposal submissions. 
  • Preparing and reviewing financial forecasts as required. 

 

  1.  Audit and Internal Controls 
  • Supporting internal audits, project external audits, project expenditure verification and organization-wide external audits.  
  • Assisting in addressing and responding to audit findings. 
  • Ensuring effective implementation of internal controls across all financial processes.  

 

  1. Leadership and Team Management 
  • Supervising a small team of accountants, providing training, guidance and performance review. 
  • Ensuring effective performance management, professional development, and compliance with HR policies.  

 

  1. Other Duties 
  • Undertaking any other responsibilities assigned, demonstrating flexibility to meet evolving organizational needs. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

Education and Professional Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred. 

 Experience: Minimum of three years relevant experience in accounting or auditing. Supervisory experience is an asset, though candidates open to assuming supervisory duties will also be considered. 

 Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. 

Language Proficiency:  High level of English proficiency, both written and verbal. 

Analytical and Organization Skills: High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.  Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

  • Interpersonal Skills: Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse/multi-functional teams. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
