Job Description
We are seeking a Philippines-based accounting professional with strong experience in U.S. tax accounting and insurance-agency financial operations to support our growing U.S. insurance agency on a remote, long-term basis. This role requires hands-on familiarity with U.S. tax principles, GAAP, and commission-based accounting, particularly within insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries. While U.S. CPA licensure is preferred, candidates with substantial U.S. tax and accounting experience working under or alongside U.S. CPAs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include supporting the preparation and review of U.S. federal and state tax filings, managing quarterly estimates, assisting with year-end tax planning, and maintaining compliance with IRS and applicable state regulations. The role will focus heavily on insurance-specific accounting, including commissions, overrides, advances, chargebacks, and carrier reconciliations across Medicare, ACA, life, annuity, and ancillary product lines. The accountant will also support multi-entity accounting structures, contractor (1099) versus employee (W-2) classifications, and accurate revenue recognition.
In addition, this role will assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting, P&L and balance sheet preparation, cash-flow tracking, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly ethical, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and able to communicate clearly with U.S.-based leadership. Prior experience supporting U.S. companies from an offshore or BPO setting is highly preferred, as is familiarity with QuickBooks or similar U.S. accounting systems.
This is a long-term remote engagement designed for a professional who understands U.S. accounting expectations, values process discipline, and can function as a reliable extension of our internal finance team.
