Country Head Philippines

Overview

Green Carbon Inc. (climate-tech, approximately 314 employees) is looking for a Country Head to lead our Philippines subsidiary. You will own the P&L and build our nature-based carbon credit business there from the ground up. Rather than inheriting an established organization, you will build the local business, team and relationships yourself, making key on-the-ground decisions while working closely with HQ leadership in Japan.

If a visa is required to work in the Philippines, you will be based in Tokyo until your visa is obtained, then relocate to the Philippines. If you are already authorized to work locally, you can start locally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Philippines subsidiary, owning the P&L and setting and executing the local business strategy
• Launch and scale carbon credit projects (agriculture, livestock, forestry) on the ground
• Build relationships and negotiate with local government, authorities, certification bodies, partners and farmers
• Build, hire, develop and manage the local team
• Handle local regulations, licensing and compliance, and work closely with HQ leadership in Japan

Qualifications

Must-have

• Management experience as a business, country or division head, including P&L responsibility
• Experience launching and running a business overseas (emerging markets / Southeast Asia)
• Business-level or higher English
• Business-level or higher Japanese
• Eligible to work in the Philippines — if a visa is required, able to relocate after obtaining it; or already authorized to work locally

Nice to have

• Knowledge of carbon credits, environment, agriculture or primary industries
• Local language
• Experience negotiating with government and authorities; a local partner network
• Startup / new-business launch experience

Compensation

• Salary: negotiable, based on your experience and qualifications
• Performance-based incentive bonus once a year; salary review twice a year
• If relocation with a visa is required: visa support, relocation support, housing and travel allowances (per company policy)
