Job Description


Role: Cost Management Accountant

Role Responsibilities:

This role is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate month end reporting of the centrally managed costs within the EMEA Region including: Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Full ownership of accruals and prepayments, analysis of monthly cost trends, and completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations of centrally managed costs.
  • Support the preparation of the Workday Day-1 cost flash.
  • Review and enhance month-end processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in partnership with Finance Systems and IT.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of variances with regional counterparts.
Cost Management & Analysis
  • Provide analytical support for annual budgets and forecasts for centrally managed costs across all regions.
  • Manage IFRS 16 lease accounting for the entire EMEA region, ensuring accurate recognition, measurement, and reporting of lease arrangements
  • Oversee Market Data and Telecoms cost reporting, ensuring accurate allocation and insightful variance analysis.
  • Support project accounting for the Technology function, partnering with stakeholders to ensure project costs are correctly captured and monitored.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial commentaries and insights for Finance Management.
Procurement & Transactional Oversight
  • Review and approve Purchase Orders, offering guidance on chart-of-accounts coding and ensuring correct treatment of spend, including CAPEX versus OPEX classification.
Collaboration, Support & Ad-Hoc Analysis
  • Work collaboratively with team members and the broader EMEA Finance organization to drive continuous improvement in processes and controls.
  • Provide timely support and financial analysis for ad-hoc requests from Finance leadership.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives and provide cover and support across the team as required.
Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting Standards.
  • Basic knowledge of and Prepayment accounting requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS 16 Accounting Standard.
  • Basic knowledge VAT
  • Personal organizational skills including multi-tasking, prioritization and delivery.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Conscientious, self-motivated, resilient, goal oriented and able to work autonomously with minimal daily supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail, quality and control and understanding the impact the role has on the wider business.
  • Hands approach, working and supporting other areas of the team as needed.
  • Ability to react to changing requirements and adjust process and approach.
  • Skilled in applications such as Oracle, Excel, SmartView/ASO, Hubble and OneStream
  • Solid attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience / Competencies:
  • This role would suit a result motivated, numerate, part qualified accountant with good attention to detail and able to work independently following logical steps and processes
  • The candidate should be a proactive team player with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • The role will require strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze large amounts of data with excel formula
  • Experience with Oracle would be beneficial
