Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Estimator Specialist to join our growing team to support our clients in Louisiana and across the nation. The Cost Estimator Specialist position is a Full-Time role with DALCS at their Baton Rouge, LA office.

About the Role

As part of the DALCS Team, our Cost Estimating Specialist will work as a member of a collaborative team to:

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and understand client relationships.
  • Participate in cost estimating of projects.
  • Participate in and develop benefit-cost analysis.
  • Develop scopes of work, dimensions of damage elements, and organize documentation of loss in collaborative efforts with site inspections, field inspectors, and estimators.
  • Support policy analysis for existing and emerging policy and guidance from FEMA and other federal and/or state agencies specific to grant eligibility.
  • Assist with the development of grant submissions through grant project worksheets to support the recovery process of the client's pursuits.
  • Review construction specs and plan scopes of work to assist with the development of estimates.
  • This position may be required to travel and work remotely.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirements include an Associate's degree or Technical degree, or equivalent work-related experience.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience is preferred.

Required Skills

  • At least five (5) years of construction experience.
  • At least three (3) years of disaster recovery experience in administering grant funding and implementation at the federal, state, or local level of government.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software such as RS Means, AutoCad, or equivalent tools.
  • The capacity to balance multiple high-priority assignments.
  • Knowledge of consulting/business practices.
  • Knowledge and skill in federal grant provisions and requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Some travel may be required for client meetings.
