Job Description
The Cost Accountant is responsible for monitoring and analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate inventory records, and providing timely financial reports to support management decision-making. This role ensures the accuracy of product costing, inventory valuation, and cost control processes while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate product cost calculations and standard costing.
- Analyze production cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory transactions, perform inventory reconciliations, and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning activities.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, inventory analyses, and management reports.
- Review manufacturing costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost accounting and inventory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Financial Management, Accounting Technology, or any Finance-related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, or General Accounting.
- Strong experience in:
- Product costing
- Cost variance analysis
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Inventory reconciliation
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and cost control procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP
- XLOOKUP
- Power Query
- Financial Modeling
- Experience using ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar ERP platforms.
- Ability to prepare and present cost reports, inventory analyses, and management reports.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
