Monitor news developments in the Philippines and its relations with the wider region and beyond, providing prompt, concise and accurate updates to guide editorial decisions
Exercise sound judgment in identifying story ideas that are relevant, impactful and aligned with CNA's core objective of helping audiences Understand Asia
Produce a steady stream of original, value-added stories that meet the highest editorial standards
Cover a broad range of topics, including general, political, geopolitical, business, economic, technology and cultural news
Create content for multiple platforms, including television, digital and radio
Deliverables include live hits, daily news stories, feature packages, multipart series and long-form content
Collaborate with editors at CNA headquarters in Singapore to plan coverage for major events and key developments
Build and maintain a strong network of contacts in government, business, academia and the private sector
Contribute to CNA's adoption of social media tools and new technology such as artificial intelligence
Support bureau operations and personnel management in line with Mediacorp's requirements
Be prepared to travel within and outside the Philippines as required
Qualifications
Minimum five years of editorial experience, preferably with a regional or international news organisation; prior reporting experience in the Philippines is essential
Deep interest in news and current affairs across Asia
Exceptional writing, newsgathering and contact-building skills
Strong news sense and visual storytelling ability
Confident on camera and adept at producing television news packages and features
Solid understanding of geopolitical sensitivities and potential red lines
Native or high-level fluency in English and Tagalog
Independent, resourceful, collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Experience with visual, AI or social media tools is an advantage
Willingness to work irregular shifts, including weekends and public holidays
