Purpose:

This position (1) creates and implements tax plans and works with the finance and accounting leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement especially in potential areas of risks (2) ensures compliance with the Philippines tax laws through a series of systems and system controls that are designed to ensure accurate and timely reporting (3) monitors current and impending changes to tax regulations and makes the appropriate updates to policies and strategies (4) prepares financial tax provisions from collection of tax data and analyses over various company functions and, (5) manages and coordinates tax audits ensuring that all necessary documentation and information are secured and made available timely.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all BIR, SEC, PEZA and BOI compliances and reporting requirements and all other areas within the company or other government agencies annexed to these compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Plan for and develop overall calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with various employees who have participation in the compliance requirement and its related reporting requirements to the government agencies.
  • Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company procedures related to the government agencies indicated above
  • Manage various employees or departments with needed participation in the compliances and their related reporting requirements to the government agencies indicated above.
  • Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of the company's tax returns and monitor the accurate and timely filing of all tax forms.
  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary taxes.
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax and compliance process.
  • Manage and facilitate tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and to Finance team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
  • Provide support with various internal audits as applicable, and special tax related projects.
  • Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
  • Manage and mentor members to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement.
  • Perform such other activities that may be required from time to time by the Company's Sr Director of Finance

Minimum Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Must be a CPA and a graduate of Bachelor of Accountancy
  • With at least 5 years of related work experience in a managerial capacity leading a team
  • Extensive individual/partnership/corporate tax knowledge
  • With indepth familiarity with the Philippines Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations and memoranda, required compliances and reporting
  • With indepth familiarity with the Philippines Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) regulations and memoranda, required compliance, and reporting
  • With indepth familiarity with the Board of Investments (BOI) regulations and memoranda, required compliance, and reporting
  • With indepth familiarity with the Local Government Unit (LGU) regulations and memoranda, compliance, and reporting
  • With familiarity with other government agencies (i.e. SEC, DOF, BOC) regulations and memoranda, required compliance and reporting
  • Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • With indepth experience in audit, accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize own tasks, the tasks of other team members involved in the tax compliance and reporting activities.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to perform as well as facilitate coordination with different levels of positions within the company and the different government agencies
  • With excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • No issues on doing fieldwork as needed for face to face meetings with government agencies
  • Strong skills and experience with Microsoft office word, outlook, excel, powerpoint
  • Adaptable to various finance applications and tools
  • Amenable to shifting schedules
  • Willing to work on a hybrid work set-up (2 days work from home/ 3 days onsite QC or Sta. Rosa)
