Job Description

Role Overview

Titan is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Part-Time Accountant to own our day-to-day finance and HR operations. This is an execution-focused role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, works independently, and takes pride in keeping the back office running smoothly. You'll be responsible for ensuring our books are clean, our people are paid accurately and on time, and our compliance obligations are met without fail.

Key Responsibilities:

HR & Payroll Administration

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing through our HR platform (e.g., Gusto, Rippling, ADP, or similar), ensuring timely and accurate pay runs for employees and contractors.
  • Maintain employee records, onboarding/offboarding paperwork, PTO tracking, and benefits enrollment within the HR system.
  • Serve as the go-to point of contact for employee payroll questions, tax forms (W-2s, 1099s), and deduction inquiries.

Payroll Tax Compliance

  • Ensure the company remains in good standing with federal, state, and local payroll tax agencies (filings and deposits are handled automatically through the HR platform).
  • Manage state and local tax registrations as the team grows into new jurisdictions, including obtaining withholding and unemployment account numbers and providing them to the HR platform.
  • Monitor the HR platform for compliance alerts, tax notices, and rate changes, and take action to keep all accounts current and accurate.
  • Review and respond to any agency notices or discrepancies, coordinating with the HR platform's support team or to the tax authorities when needed.

Bills Processing & Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and recurring bills through our AP system (e.g., Bill.com, Ramp, or QuickBooks).
  • Verify approvals, code expenses correctly, and schedule payments in line with cash flow priorities.
  • Maintain vendor records, W-9s, and 1099 tracking throughout the year.

Bookkeeping & General Ledger

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date books in QuickBooks Online (or equivalent), including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant processor statements on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and flag anomalies.
  • Support audit readiness, tax preparation, and ad-hoc financial analysis as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years of accounting or finance experience with U.S.-based companies.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. GAAP and tax compliance.
  • Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team environment
