Job Title: Controller (US Operations)

Work Location or Setup: 100% Remote (Philippines-based)

Work Schedule: Full-Time | US Business Hours (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly committed, articulate, and strategic Controller to lead financial operations for a high-growth US laboratory specializing in innovative hair care manufacturing. This is a key leadership position for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced global environment, leads teams with confidence, and excels at building strong client and partner relationships.

The Controller serves as our financial anchor: overseeing accounting functions, reporting, and GAAP compliance while remaining hands-on with the General Ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive high performance within the accounting team by leading strategic planning, making actionable recommendations, and maintaining operational efficiency and accountability across all financial operations.
  • Oversee the General Ledger with absolute precision. Personally audit, post, and correct complex journal entries, accruals, and year-end adjustments.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial statements fully aligned with US GAAP standards.
  • Serve as a personable financial advisor to executive leadership, partners, and external auditors translating complex financial data into actionable business strategies.
  • Direct annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis. Partner with R&D and manufacturing operations to track inventory, batch costs, and profitability.
  • Supervise AP, AR, payroll, and external tax/audit preparation to ensure seamless financial operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Leadership Experience: 3–5+ years of proven experience managing and scaling an entire finance/accounting department.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent, highly expressive verbal and written English communication skills; comfortable presenting financial insights to US executives.
  • Proactive Drive: A self-starter who takes complete ownership, solves complex problems independently, and values relationship-building.
  • Technical Expertise: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with expert mastery of complex journal entries and US GAAP.
  • Systems & Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred). Proficiency in Traverse ERP (or major ERP systems) and advanced Excel.
  • (Preferred) International & US Experience: Background working with international companies, with direct experience supporting US-based clients or organizations highly preferred.
  • (Preferred) Manufacturing Knowledge: Prior experience in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), laboratory, or R&D-heavy industries is a major plus.
