Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that commercial resources are adequate for the successful delivery of the project.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work as part of the Project Team.
  • Develop and manage strategic contracts that reflect customer needs and take into account legislation, Health & Safety, fraud prevention, sustainability, and workforce considerations.
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are fulfilled, including those related to Health & Safety and sustainability.
  • Maintain and manage project risk registers to ensure early identification of risks and to ensure contingencies are in place to manage and minimise them.
  • Implement and fully comply with D&M's Commercial Procedures at site level.
  • Maximise cash flow through the timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices, and receipt of payments.
  • Ensure that project teams have a strong commercial understanding and focus, providing appropriate motivation and leading by example.
  • Manage the timely procurement of subcontractors.
  • Take ownership of objectives set by Management / Department Head.
  • Support the Head of Contracts/Commercial in the development and implementation of the supplier performance and contract management strategy.
  • Contribute to the budget preparation of the Commercial Department.
  • Deliver optimum performance levels for major service contracts within the contract portfolio.
  • Manage the prompt preparation of variations, claims, and disputes.
  • Manage, control, and guide assigned personnel, promoting knowledge sharing, learning, and the development of a team that is able to think creatively.
  • Provide expert advice to departments on relevant contracts in compliance with applicable legislation, budgets, professional standards, and D&M's vision and values.
  • Develop and manage strategic contracts in accordance with D&M's vision, policies, governance arrangements, and values.
  • Support D&M's business continuity planning by providing expert advice and guidance when required.
  • Develop a close working relationship with D&M's Legal Services Department regarding all matters related to contractual terms and conditions, new legislation, and other relevant legal matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent.
  • A legal-related degree would be an advantage.
  • Professional membership qualification such as RICS, CIOB, ICES, CIARB, or similar.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related work experience in similar industries.
