Construction Senior Accountant
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, with a 1-hour unpaid break
Salary: $1,400 per month
Job Overview:
We are seeking an exceptionally experienced and highly motivated Construction Senior Accountant with proven hands-on construction accounting experience. This role is critical to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations and requires deep expertise in construction financial processes, including job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, contract accounting, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is highly self-sufficient, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. CPA certification is a plus, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting Ownership: Independently manage and execute the entire bookkeeping and accounting process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Accounts Payable (AP) Management: Oversee the full AP cycle, including vendor bill entry, documentation management, and timely payment processing.
- Client Approval Workflow: Establish and manage efficient workflows for obtaining approvals from clients or management prior to bill payments and major transactions.
- Payroll Administration: Accurately manage and process company payroll, ensuring compliance with all tax and labor regulations.
- Transaction Processing: Categorize, verify, and process all financial transactions, including proper cost allocation for construction projects (e.g., job costing) and SaaS-specific revenue recognition.
- Month-End Close: Execute a timely and efficient month-end close, including preparation and entry of all necessary Adjusting Journal Entries (AJEs).
- Reconciliation: Perform daily/weekly reconciliation of all bank and credit card accounts with meticulous attention to detail.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare internal financial statements and provide insights on key performance metrics (e.g., WIP, deferred revenue, COGS).
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements, particularly those related to construction contracts (ASC 606/340) and SaaS revenue (ASC 606).
Qualifications
- Professional Credentials
- Certification: CPA certification is a plus, but not required.
- Experience: 15–20 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience, with extensive use of QuickBooks Online.
Industry & Technical Expertise
- Dual-Industry Knowledge: Accounting expertise in Construction, Rental, and SaaS environments is highly desirable.
- Construction Accounting: Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion method, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
- SaaS Accounting: Practical experience with subscription revenue recognition (ASC 606/deferred revenue), SaaS COGS, and capitalization of internal-use software development costs.

- Financial/Reporting: Microsoft Excel – Advanced proficiency, including formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
- Construction/Job Costing: Familiarity with Procore, Sage 100 Contractor, or equivalent is a plus.
- SaaS/Billing: Experience with Melio, Bill.com, Ramp, or similar platforms is a plus.
