Role Snapshot

You own the accuracy and reliability of residential construction cost estimates, ensuring every project starts with a clear financial foundation and remains controlled through completion. Your work translates drawings, specifications, and scope requirements into structured cost plans that guide procurement, budgeting, and execution.

This role operates within defined estimating workflows, coordinating closely with project managers and purchasing teams to maintain cost discipline across the project lifecycle. You are expected to deliver precise take-offs, evaluate subcontractor pricing, and track cost movements against budget. Best suited for professionals who are detail-driven, accountable for numbers, and comfortable working within structured construction processes.

You're Likely a Strong Fit If You Have

• 3+ years of experience in residential estimating, quantity surveying, or cost engineering

• Hands-on experience preparing material take-offs and detailed cost estimates for residential projects

• Strong working knowledge of Excel and construction estimating tools

• Experience supporting budgeting, procurement, and cost control processes

• Exposure to single-family home construction methods and materials

• Willingness to work a fixed night shift (8:00 PM–5:00 AM, Mon–Fri) in a fully remote setup

Strong Signals

• Experience estimating custom homes or residential developments

• Construction-related degree (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management)

• Experience working with subcontractor pricing and bid evaluations

• Familiarity with U.S. residential construction environments

Responsibility Pillars

Estimating & Cost Planning

You own the development of accurate and structured cost estimates that define project financial viability.

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for materials and labor

• Build cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and defined scopes

• Evaluate alternates and value-engineering options

Procurement & Cost Control

You ensure all pricing inputs are complete, aligned, and financially sound throughout the project lifecycle.

• Review subcontractor quotations for scope completeness and accuracy

• Compare bids and support purchasing decisions

• Track variations, allowances, and change orders against budget

Budget Monitoring & Reporting

You maintain visibility over cost performance and ensure financial alignment is sustained.

• Monitor actual costs versus budgeted estimates

• Report variances and provide cost insights to stakeholders

• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records

Project & Preconstruction Support

You contribute to early-stage planning and smooth project transitions into execution.

• Support feasibility studies and cost planning for new developments

• Provide cost input during design and preconstruction stages

• Collaborate with project teams during handoff and execution phases
