Construction Estimator

Black Leaf Design is a design-build general contractor based in Salt Lake City, Utah, serving the aviation, industrial & commercial, select residential, and equestrian & specialty markets. Our mission is to be the client's guide through the design and construction process — delivering projects on time, on budget, and without confusion.

We're hiring our first Philippines-based team member: a skilled construction estimator to join our preconstruction team. You'll work directly with our COO and project managers, with full access to our tools, training program, and team channels. This is a long-term role with real growth potential — not freelance gig work.

What you'll do

• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings
• Build detailed cost estimates for commercial, industrial, aviation, and specialty projects
• Manage subcontractor bid packages in Procore — solicit, evaluate, and level bids
• Monitor bid platforms (UP3, Construction Connect, Building Connected) for opportunities
• Support feasibility studies, preliminary budgets, and value engineering
• Prepare professional proposals and maintain our cost database

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
• Excellent written and spoken English — you'll communicate with our US team daily, including weekly video meetings
• Reliable high-speed internet and a professional home office
• Night-shift availability: your workday must overlap US Mountain Time core hours, minimum 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM MT (approximately 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippine Time). Compensation reflects this, including a night differential.

Nice to have

• Procore or PlanSwift experience
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
• CSI MasterFormat familiarity; knowledge of US building codes (IBC)
• Previous remote work with US-based companies
