About the Role
As a Compliance Officer, you will be accountable for providing the second line of defense for the General Regulations Compliance area. The role supports the General Regulations Head and team in compliance risk stewardship activities, such as regulatory issuance and dissemination, as well as providing advisory services on assigned compliance areas.
How you'll contribute
- Conduct of day-to-day advisory on the assigned line of business, subsidiary, or function to ensure policies, products/services,and operating guidelines are aligned with regulatory requirements
- Acts as a business enabler and partner with appropriate stakeholders to achieve the Bank's business objectives while promoting a compliance culture in the Bank that balances customer and business requirements with the regulatory expectation
- Effective implementation of compliance program by addressing breaches that may arise, reporting these breaches to the General Regulations Department head for escalation to the Corporate Governance Committee and the Board
- Providing advice to the lines of business and function on control environment remediation where required
- Work with the stakeholders to adopt measures on the resolution and prevention of recurrence of the violation and propose polices that will address findings and identified weaknesses resulting from regulatory review, audit, and compliance testing activities
- Liason with Auxiliary Governance Officers (AGO) and business units on regulatory issuance (RI) and dissemination, including conduct of gap analysis, table discussions, and updating of relevant business procedures to align with updated laws, rules, and regulations
- Conduct of Quarterly AGO Validation, as an ongoing management of compliance risk, identify any systemic breaches, ensure issues and actions arising from regulatory reviews and compliance assurance are monitored and actioned accordingly
- Prepares monthly Compliance reports applicable to assigned area highlighting significant risk areas, escalating issues identifies, and other meaningful updates
What we're looking for
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accountancy, Legal Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in regulatory/AML compliance, corporate governance, policy setting, and compliance advisory, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Has good working knowledge of banking regulations and financial crime compliance, with experience in regulatory issuance, dissemination, and gap analysis.
- With practical experience in compliance risk assessment and remediation, including addressing breaches, control weaknesses, and recurring issues.
- Has a general understanding of risk management frameworks and Risk Steward practices, including the practical application of risk models to regulatory and financial crime risks.
- With experience in regulatory engagement and stakeholder management, preferably with Philippine regulators such as the BSP, IC, SEC, and PSE, and strong analytical, advisory, communication, and reporting skills.
