Compliance Associate

The Role

The Compliance Associate will work with other members of the Compliance team to compile information into Product Information Guides for each finished product. These guides include all substantiation information and other Compliance information relevant for Marketing and Customer Care. This position is important to help educate and guide other departments and teams in regulatory compliance through everyday actions. As such, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are important for this role as compliance associates will be expected to notice small details and will frequently need to explain the reasons and thoughts behind decisions that are made. As well, this position requires assisting the compliance team as needed on copy review, marketing review, template review, and substantiation of claims. This is an hourly, full-time (40 hr/wk), fully remote position for a three-month contract. The compensation for this role is $17-20 USD/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Take existing Compliance information and compile it into Product Information Guides for each MRO finished product. Will work directly with all members of MRO Compliance in fulfillment of this duty.
  • Exercise judgment when deciding what information is relevant to include and what is not.
  • Assist with review of copy, product packaging, images, and marketing materials according to FDA/FTC guidelines and ensure marketing and copy are on-brand.
  • You may be asked to assist with claim substantiation by analyzing clinical trials and scientific papers to substantiate ingredient structure/function claims, and work on substantiation documents.
  • Data entry and organization of documents and spreadsheets.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed
  • Please note that this is expected to be an evolving role that may be assigned into one of the specialized areas listed above based on criteria such as experience, employee preference, employee performance, and overall department needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM field, or equivalent experience..
  • 1-3 years prior experience in dietary supplements, food, or a related FDA regulated industry (required).
  • 1-3 years prior experience with scientific journal articles and claims substantiation preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Empathetic team-player.
  • Strong time and task management skills.
  • Proficient with Google Suite (or related software).
  • Experience in Asana or similar software (preferred).
  • Experience with Propel software (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
