Job Description
A company nurse provides basic healthcare, administers first aid, and promotes wellness programs to employees. Key responsibilities include treating injuries and illnesses, maintaining confidential health records, coordinating with company physicians and external healthcare providers, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards. They are also responsible for managing clinic supplies and sometimes assisting with benefits administration.
Core responsibilities
Medical care: Administer first aid for workplace accidents, provide initial assessment for illnesses, give over-the-counter medication, and coordinate with external medical facilities or company physicians for further treatment.
Health and wellness: Develop and implement health and wellness programs, conduct health assessments, promote healthy lifestyle choices, and educate employees on disease prevention and workplace safety.
Record-keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records, accident/incident reports, and manage the inventory of medical supplies and medicines.
Administrative duties: Assist with annual physical exams, drug testing, and benefits-related tasks such as HMO and dental plans.
Safety and compliance: Monitor and help enforce health and safety protocols, identify workplace hazards, and assist in preparing and submitting required health and accident reports to management and government agencies.
