We are seeking a collaborative, detail-driven Company Accountant to join our team. The Company Accountant handles Internal Accounting Practice of end-to-end financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance tasks in support of a multi-partner firm. The role works closely with the Accounts Payable Manager and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely financial operations. Starting onsite during your probation period to ensure seamless onboarding, you will transition into a flexible hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days at home, with Wednesday as the team anchor day) while collaborating closely with key group stakeholders and managers to maintain financial integrity.
Your Impact
- Financial Reporting & Statements: Prepare monthly financial reports including balance sheets and P&L, plus annual financial reporting and tax distribution statements. This role is for an Internal Accounting Practice in an Australian Accounting Firm.
- Reconciliations & Journals: Perform bank and GL reconciliations, monthly balance sheet allocations, and manage lease journals, fixed assets, and depreciation.
- Compliance & Tax Lodgements: Lodge Activity Statements and FBT returns while ensuring adherence to all firm compliance requirements at all times.
- Cash Flow & Partner Payments: Support creditor and debtor management, process monthly and quarterly partner payments, and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Administrative & Team Support: Provide administrative support to the Accounts Payable Manager and contribute to month-end tasks and ad hoc finance requirements.
- Stakeholder & Systems Engagement: Maintain strong internal relationships, assist with new application implementations, and respond to enquiries professionally and promptly.
What You Bring
- Accounting Qualifications: A degree in Accounting and a qualification in Bookkeeping are required for this role.
- Australian Accounting Experience: Prior experience in a similar accounting role with exposure to Australian accounting practices is essential.
- Xero & Excel Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Xero and strong working knowledge of Excel are essential to perform daily responsibilities.
- Accuracy & Organisation: High attention to detail, strong data entry accuracy, and excellent organisational skills to manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team environment.
