Commercial Roofing Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates and scopes of work in support of the Sales team. This is a 100% remote position focused on reviewing project information, roofing plans, specifications, and construction documents to determine material, labor, production-rate, and cost requirements.

The estimator will work closely with Sales and Production to ensure proposed roofing solutions are practical, complete, accurately priced, and aligned with customer needs and company profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Scope Development

• Prepare estimates for commercial roofing installation, repair, and related projects.
• Review roof information, plans, specifications, drawings, and construction documents provided by the team to determine the scope of work.
• Develop material quantities, labor requirements, production rates, and cost assumptions needed to prepare accurate estimates.
• Prepare clear and detailed scopes of work and supporting estimate documentation.
• Identify potential issues, missing information, or project risks that could affect pricing or execution.

Sales & Internal Collaboration

• Work closely with Sales Representatives, executives, and Production team members to gather project information and develop cost-effective roofing solutions.
• Clearly communicate assumptions, exclusions, technical considerations, and potential risks associated with estimates.
• Support the Sales team by clarifying estimate details and helping respond to questions from customers, contractors, or consultants.
• Collaborate with Production to ensure estimates can be successfully transitioned from the bidding stage into project execution.

Accuracy, Systems & Profitability

• Use estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other company systems to efficiently prepare estimates and supporting documentation.
• Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, expected production rates, and alignment with company profitability goals.
• Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, bid information, and supporting documentation.
• Complete estimates within expected turnaround times while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Project Support & Relationships

• Support project handoffs between Sales and Production.
• Assist with project documentation, warranties, and building-owner requirements when estimating support is needed.
• Maintain professional working relationships with customers, building owners, general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal team members through remote communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of commercial roofing experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems, applications, materials, costs, and production rates.
• Experience preparing commercial roofing estimates (Edge and Salesforce), takeoffs, and scopes of work.
• Ability to read and interpret roofing plans, specifications, construction documents, technical procedures, and roofing terminology.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including calculations involving percentages, area, volume, proportions, materials, labor, and project costs.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, internet-based systems, and related technology.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with Sales and Production.
• Comfortable communicating with U.S.-based team members and other project stakeholders remotely.

Success in this role will be measured by the accuracy and completeness of estimates, bid turnaround time and responsiveness, alignment with company profitability goals, quality of scopes and supporting documentation, and effective collaboration with Sales and Production.

Work Arrangement

This is a 100% remote position. All estimating work will be completed using the plans, specifications, roof information, measurements, construction documents, and other project information provided electronically by the company and its team. The estimator will collaborate with Sales, Production, and other stakeholders through the company's remote communication and technology platforms.
