Job Overview

A premier painting contractor specializing in commercial projects across the United States is seeking a Commercial Painting Estimator. In this part-time remote role, you will take ownership of the estimation workflow by reviewing construction plans, quantifying materials and labor, and preparing competitive client proposals. Working directly with ownership, you will ensure accurate scope definition and maintain organized records for all project bids. This position offers stable part-time hours with potential to scale to full-time based on performance.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM PST (20 hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Review commercial painting project plans and specifications to determine scope of work
• Calculate accurate quantities of materials, labor, and resources required for each project
• Prepare detailed descriptions of work to be performed for client proposals
• Generate estimates using standard documentation tools including Word documents
• Communicate with the owner to clarify project requirements and priorities
• Maintain organized records of all estimates and related project documentation
• Adjust to increasing project volume as the commercial portfolio grows
• Support potential transition to full-time capacity based on business needs

Must-Have Requirements

• Proven experience in estimating for painting or construction projects
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Proficiency with quantity takeoffs and material calculations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical work
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong written communication skills for creating clear project descriptions
• Reliable internet connection and ability to work remotely

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

• Bonus if you have specific experience with commercial painting projects
• It helps if you're familiar with construction estimating software beyond basic tools
• Bonus if you have experience scaling from part-time to full-time roles successfully
