Position Overview

A well-established and rapidly expanding financial services organization is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead its nationwide commercial strategy and support its next phase of growth.

This executive leadership opportunity is designed for a commercially driven leader with a proven ability to build high-performing organizations, deliver sustainable revenue growth, and execute long-term business strategies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the commercial direction of an organization undergoing significant expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization's national commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic sales planning, market expansion, portfolio development, and client acquisition initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a nationwide commercial organization, establishing a high-performance culture focused on accountability, execution, and results.
  • Oversee commercial performance across multiple regions, utilizing data-driven insights to optimize productivity and profitability.
  • Identify new market opportunities and spearhead expansion initiatives that support sustainable business growth.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align commercial priorities with operational, financial, and regulatory objectives.
  • Strengthen portfolio quality through effective commercial governance, collections oversight, and fraud prevention strategies.
  • Provide strategic leadership as the organization scales, preparing the commercial function to support a workforce expected to grow to approximately 1,000 employees within the next four years.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a strategic commercial executive with substantial experience leading growth within the microfinance, lending, banking, or broader financial services sector.

You will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of senior commercial leadership experience within financial services.
  • A strong background in commercial strategy, sales leadership, business development, and market expansion, with responsibility for delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing long-term growth strategies rather than primarily overseeing operational functions.
  • Proven experience leading large, geographically dispersed field sales organizations, including sales planning, organizational design, performance management, and commercial execution.
  • A stable career history reflecting the ability to implement strategic initiatives over time and achieve sustained commercial success.
  • Experience leading organizations through periods of significant growth and transformation.
  • Strong executive leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across regional operations.
