Comedy Scriptwriter (Animated Shorts)

About the Role

Write hilarious, fast paced custom scripts for our animated Shorts. You'll reverse engineer proven viral comedy structures (think SpongeBob style gag mechanics) and rebuild them for our recurring character world, including our couch and mug lane.

What You'll Do

• Hook fast, open mid action in about 3 seconds, no setup
• Write character first comedy, the joke comes from who they are
• Lead with the visual gag, image or board first, dialogue second
• Escalate, then flop, big effort, tiny (or catastrophic) fail
• Hold the beat, silence or reaction before the punchline lands
• Cut every 2 to 3 seconds once the scene is moving
• Land a punchline that reads as one shareable clip

Must-Haves

• Proven track record writing funny Shorts, sketches, or animation (portfolio or samples required)
• Comfortable using modern AI assisted writing tools to speed up drafting and iteration
• Can reverse engineer viral comedy timing (SpongeBob / Seinfeld flat world energy)
• Writes for animation, not live host monologues
• Full-time availability aligned to VN/YouTube production cadence

Nice-to-Haves

• Storyboard literacy, can mark visual beats directly in scripts
• Experience writing for recurring character worlds or franchises

Deliverables

• Daily/weekly Shorts scripts, organized by category (animation first)
• A gag library tied to locked characters and environments
• Script packs ready to film and approve quickly
