Your Role at a Glance
Be part of our client's team as a Collections Specialist, where you will manage overdue accounts, negotiate payment arrangements, verify account accuracy, and utilize skip-tracing tools to support effective debt recovery. What You'll Bring to the Role
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Collections Agent experience in the BPO industry (required)
- Experience handling phone, chat, or email-based customer interactions
- Experience in the Financial Services industry (preferred)
- Administrative or business-related qualification (desirable)
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong understanding of contact center operations and performance metrics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
- Strong people skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- High attention to detail with advanced data entry accuracy
- Proven time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Collect payments on past due bills
- Meet collections targets in relevant metrics
- Utilize computer systems to handle skip tracing
- Inform clients of overdue accounts and amounts currently owed
- Review terms of sale or loan documents
- Ensure all customer information is correct, including phone numbers and addresses
- Listen to customers stories and determine if debt can be collected
- Set up repayment plans and new terms of sale
- Offer advice or refer customers to debt counselors
- Record new commitments to repay debt, clearly establishing the amount and date of payment
- Send statements of delinquency to credit bureaus
- Initiate repossession proceedings or hand over accounts to law specialists
- Purge records once debt has been satisfied
- Report satisfied debts in necessary databases
- Follow local laws dealing with debt collection
- Print reports for management
