Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on CNC/CAM Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone with practical experience working in CNC machining or manufacturing environments who understands not only CAD/CAM software, but how parts are actually programmed and produced on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
* Review real manufacturing data, including 3D models, engineering drawings, CAM files, CNC programs, tooling, and machine information.
* Create CAM setups, toolpaths, and CNC programs from engineering drawings or 3D models when CAM data is not available.
* Evaluate whether CNC programs and CAM data are technically consistent with the corresponding part, machine, tooling, and manufacturing process.
* Develop machining strategies, select appropriate tools, feeds, speeds, fixtures, and cutting parameters.
* Work with CNC milling and/or turning operations, depending on experience.
* Troubleshoot and improve CAM programs and machining processes.
* Review technical data submitted by manufacturing shops and identify missing or inconsistent information.
* Communicate directly with CNC shops and manufacturing partners to collect and clarify technical information.
* Help establish standards for organizing and validating manufacturing datasets.
* Support expansion into additional manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication and other CNC processes.
Qualifications
* 3+ years of practical experience in CNC machining, CAM programming, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.
* Strong hands-on experience with at least one professional CAM system such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM, Siemens NX CAM, or similar.
* Strong understanding of CNC milling and/or turning.
* Able to create a CAM program starting from a 3D model or engineering drawing.
* Good understanding of G-code, tooling, workholding, feeds & speeds, and machining parameters.
* Able to read engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
* Familiarity with real CNC machine setups and shop-floor manufacturing practices.
* Experience troubleshooting machining or programming issues.
* Good technical communication and documentation skills.
Strong Plus
* Experience working as a CNC programmer, machinist/programmer, or manufacturing engineer in a machine shop.
* Experience across multiple CNC machine brands or controllers (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak, etc.).
* Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis machining.
* Experience with turning.
* Experience with sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, or bending.
* Experience reviewing or standardizing manufacturing data.
