Cloud Infrastructure EngineerJob Summary
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing cloud-based server infrastructure, primarily within AWS environments. This role ensures high availability, security, cost efficiency, and operational reliability of systems while working closely with development teams to support website deployment and ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage cloud servers and infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Collaborate with developers in provisioning and launching websites and applications
- Manage DNS renewals and configurations across multiple providers, including:
- DotPH
- GoDaddy
- AWS Route 53
- Arvixe
- eNom
- Handle SSL certificate renewals (e.g., Comodo) and install/attach certificates on both Windows and Linux servers
- Manage and resolve tickets related to AWS services and server access
- Perform daily backup monitoring and support data restoration when required
- Prepare and process change requests for AWS cost estimation and approval prior to provisioning resources
- Monitor, manage, and optimize AWS billing and cloud cost usage
- Ensure infrastructure reliability, security, and compliance with organizational standards
- Provide operational support for production and non-production environments
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, AMI, EBS, Route 53, IAM, Backup, Billing, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server administration
- Knowledge of DNS management and domain registrars
- Experience with SSL certificate management and deployment
- Familiarity with backup systems, disaster recovery, and restoration processes
- Understanding of cloud cost management and optimization
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers and cross-functional teams
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
- Experience with IT service management / ticketing systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM policies, security groups, network ACLs, encryption, and least-privilege access
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, third-party monitoring solutions)
- Familiarity with cost optimization and budgeting in AWS (Cost Explorer, budgets, reserved instances, savings plans)
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures in cloud environments
- Experience with DNS management, domain lifecycle, and SSL certificate handling across multiple providers
