Compensation Range

$28.50 - $37.06

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Clinical dietitian for the Center for Community Health & Prevention. Provide comprehensive nutrition care and education to patients who are overweight and obese, at-risk for diabetes, and cardiometabolic diseases, and who have diabetes or other diagnoses requiring medical nutrition therapy. Assess nutritional status of patients and recommend nutritional regimens to match individual patient requirements. Conduct ongoing evaluation of nutritional status of patients to ensure adequacy and appropriateness of nutritional regimes. Provide ongoing education on medical nutrition therapy to patients in both individual and group counseling settings. Work with the clinical team on translating Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and its application in interventions for health-related motivation, such as lipids management, weight loss, and diabetes prevention. Serve as consultant to other members of the Center for Community Health & Prevention as part of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Assess individual new patients in the clinic by obtaining a detailed nutrition history, provide assessments, dietary instruction and education. Design, implement, and recommend medical nutritional regimens; assure adequacy and appropriateness of regimens and conduct ongoing evaluation of nutritional status of patients and the care being provided.
  • Provide ongoing education and follow-up to individuals and in group settings on medical nutritional therapy to patients, families, and UR employees and arranges individual follow up as needed. Document all aspects of nutritional care in patients records. Participate in orientation and cross-training of other staff.
  • Screen patients to identify those at nutritional risk or those needing nutrition intervention. Document all aspects of nutritional care and contractually required baseline and outcome data in medical records, program database or in correspondence to physicians related to referrals. Participate in community nutrition activities.
  • Function as a consultant for other team members in providing medical nutrition therapy to patients. Participate and present in weekly clinical team meetings. Maintain awareness of innovations in diabetic, pre-diabetic, hypertensive, and hyperlipidimia patients nutrition therapy through professional publications, conferences, seminars, and collaboration with colleagues. Contribute to new and on-going research plans, grant writing and manuscript preparation. Assist in the development of new worksite wellness interventions and delivery modes.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree accepted if certified by the Commission on Dietetics Registration for degrees received before 1/1/2024 required
  • Master's degree accepted if ACEND certified for degrees received on/after 1/1/2024
  • 1 year of dietetic internship experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Clinical nutrition experience in a health care setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Registered or registry-eligible by the Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire required
  • RD Registered Dietitian within 180 days required
