Job Description

Assembly is seeking a Client Finance Manager to oversee client finance for North America, including revenue recognition, forecasting, profitability analysis, media reconciliation, and billing & collections. In this role, you will partner closely with client-facing teams, centralized accounting, and leadership to drive financial accuracy and strategic decision-making. You will report to the Director of Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly revenue reporting, recognition, and journal entries, ensuring full compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls.
  • Manage the Sales to Be Billed (STBB) and Work in Progress (WIP) cycle: Collaborate with client and billing teams to ensure timely conversion, monitor aging balances, investigate variances, and lead cleanup efforts. Support Net Working Capital objectives by improving billing timeliness and accelerating collections.
  • Maintain the monthly revenue schedule and perform variance analysis across actuals, forecasts, and budgets; collaborate with account teams to investigate deviations and surface insights into key business drivers.
  • Analyze client contracts and statements of work (SOWs) to support correct job / cost coding, revenue attribution, and profitability tracking.
  • Act as a strategic financial partner to account teams by reviewing staffing plans, pricing, SOWs, and margin performance, while delivering client-level financial reporting and dashboards for internal and external use.
  • Respond to ad hoc analytical requests and lead special projects focused on process improvements, system enhancements, and automation within client finance workflows.
  • Maintain strong organization, communication, and stakeholder management, both internally and with clients when needed.
  • Contribute to quarterly reviews, internal/external audits, client audits, and tax preparations.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, ideally within a media, agency, or client-facing services environment.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, revenue recognition, WIP, AR, and intercompany accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including dynamic array formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, charts, and financial modeling) and PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, with strong ownership and the ability to thrive independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or similar).
  • Prior experience with media finance tools (e.g. Mediaocean, I/O systems, media reconciliation platforms).
  • Experience working in an agency or marketing services environment.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) or automation technologies (Power Query, macros, etc.).
