Your impact

At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

The Civil/Structural Engineer will collaborate alongside with other sector engineers, providing project delivery, design management and project management and will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, engineering and design technical leaders to create opportunities within the Energy and Power team. The role will play a vital role in ensuring that our designs for power generation, renewable energy, and industrial facilities are accurate, safe, and compliant with international engineering standards.

In this role, you will

  • Conduct design reviews of civil and structural engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, models, and reports
  • Evaluate design assumptions, structural analysis outputs, loads, materials, and compliance with required codes and standards
  • Review foundations, structural systems, drainage layouts, road designs, site grading, culverts, and stormwater systems
  • Identify design risks, constructability challenges, and interdisciplinary clashes
  • Provide clear technical recommendations and work closely with design teams to resolve review comments
  • Participate in design review workshops, quality assurance checks, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, environmental, and other disciplines
  • Support continuous improvement of design review processes and quality standards

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, licensed is a plus
  • Experience in civil/structural design and design review for power generation or renewable energy projects
  • Proficiency in any of the civil/structural and drafting software, including
    • STAAD Pro,

    • SpaceGass
    • Civil 3D

    • SPR
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
