Your Role:
As a Civil Estimator, You Will
- Oversee preparation of estimates and tender submissions
- Research construction/design documents and analyse specifications for accurate costing
- Ensure estimates include detailed labor, materials, timing, and cost structures
- Review risks and opportunities in bid documents and present these to management
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids and supplier quotations
- Recommend cost reduction strategies for more competitive proposals
- Identify and evaluate technical issues related to projects
- Complete forecast and tender cost reporting
- Ensure contract, commercial, and legislative obligations are met in tender processes
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the estimating team
- Contribute to continuous improvement and business optimization efforts
- Uphold health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in all work activities
What You Need:
Non-negotiables
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience as a Civil Estimator or similar role
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Ability to prepare tender submissions, cost estimates, and basic schedules
- Strong ability to interpret contractual documents, drawings, and specifications
- Experience preparing/responding to RFIs and clarifications
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong decision-making, confidentiality, and customer service orientation
Preferred skills/expertise
- Postgraduate Degree
- Experience within the civil/construction industry
- Experience working remotely in a FIFO setup
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder influencing skills
- High resilience and adaptability
