Civil Engineer Residential Drainage (Stormwater Design) | Full-Time Remote

A well-established Australian engineering consultancy focused on residential stormwater and drainage is expanding its remote delivery capability, and needs a senior engineer who can pick up a job register, open Civil 3D, and produce accurate drainage plans with minimal hand-holding.

THE ROLE

This is a production-focused senior engineering role centred entirely on residential stormwater design for South Australian developments, including single dwellings, duplexes, and small multi-dwelling projects. You will own your allocated jobs from start to finalised drawing, working to tight turnaround expectations and applying your knowledge of SA council requirements and Australian Standards at every step. As your competence is demonstrated, you will progress toward checking other engineers work and submitting finalised plans directly to clients without an additional review layer.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

▸Work from a job register to independently complete allocated residential stormwater design jobs covering single dwellings, duplexes, and small multi-dwelling developments.

▸Produce stormwater drainage plans and calculations to a standard requiring minimal revision, targeting approximately one and a half hours per single-dwelling job at full productivity.

▸Submit completed designs for review, incorporate markup feedback, and finalise drawings to a standard ready for client submission.

▸Maintain a daily output of approximately three jobs across varying complexity levels once fully productive, typically two single-dwelling jobs and one multi-dwelling job per day.

▸Apply working knowledge of South Australian council requirements and Australian Standards to ensure every design meets local regulatory expectations without needing to be chased.

▸Communicate proactively via Microsoft Teams throughout the working day, flagging blockers early and responding to the team promptly during work hours.

▸Progress, as competence is demonstrated, toward independently checking work produced by other engineers and submitting finalised stormwater plans directly to clients without additional review.

WHAT YOU BRING

✔Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D with a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience producing engineering drawings to a professional standard.

✔Demonstrated experience in Australian residential stormwater design with specific, applied knowledge of South Australian council requirements and local drainage standards.

✔Competency in Microsoft Excel for managing stormwater calculations and spreadsheet-based workflows integral to the design process.

✔The ability to work independently on allocated jobs with minimal supervision, delivering accurate and complete designs within defined turnaround timeframes.

✔Strong English communication skills and a genuine willingness to engage with feedback, incorporate markups, and collaborate effectively with a geographically distributed team.
