Civil Designer

A senior civil design opportunity built for someone who does the work, owns the output, and doesn't need to be managed.

This is a full-time, dedicated remote role for a Senior Civil Designer with five or more years of consultancy-grade experience across earthworks, drainage, road design, and reticulation. The work is real, the pace is fast, and the expectation is clear: you deliver.

THE ROLE

You will operate as a core production resource for a residential subdivision civil engineering consultancy, independently preparing civil design drawing packages across earthworks, road and pavement, stormwater drainage, and water and sewer reticulation. Your output goes directly to client submission and QA review — which means accuracy, professionalism, and ownership are non-negotiable. You will manage concurrent short-duration projects under weekly task assignments, working alongside an onshore engineering team who will rely on your ability to deliver without hand-holding.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Prepare civil design drawings independently across earthworks, road and pavement design, stormwater drainage, water and sewer reticulation, and driveway design for small residential and subdivision projects.
• Take full ownership of your drawing packages from task assignment through to delivery, maintaining quality and accuracy across all outputs.
• Manage concurrent short-duration projects under weekly task assignments, meeting fast turnaround expectations without compromising drawing standards.
• Produce concept drawings for stormwater, water, sewer, earthworks, and driveway design to a standard suitable for client submission and QA review.
• Communicate proactively with the onshore engineering team on project progress, blockers, and deliverable status, and participate in weekly project and workload review discussions.
• Engage with a dedicated mentor and QA reviewer, incorporate review feedback, and continuously improve the quality of your output.
• Adapt across project types and disciplines as the team identifies your strengths and allocates work accordingly.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Strong, production-level proficiency in AutoCAD — this is the primary tool of the role and you must produce accurate, professional civil design drawings without supervision; AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency is a significant advantage for corridor modelling and surface management.
• Minimum five years of civil design experience in a consultancy or engineering environment, with a demonstrated track record of delivering independently.
• Foundational knowledge of stormwater design sufficient to produce concept-level drawings across drainage, water, sewer, and earthworks.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent short-duration projects and hit fast turnaround deadlines without sacrificing drawing quality.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills to discuss technical matters clearly and proactively with an onshore engineering team.
• A genuinely self-directed working style — you manage your own workload, prioritise without prompting, and deliver consistently.
