This position will be part of our PH Operations Engineering Support Team and will be responsible for analysis and implementation of site civil constraints to develop detailed layouts for utility-scale photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will utilize existing company processes and resources, as well as implement improvements to enhance the capabilities of the group.
This position will also support Development to evaluate and entitle projects, as well as transition projects to pre-construction for execution. This position will report to Head of Operations Support and Engagement team and to the Sr. Manager of Development Engineering. This is a hybrid position, with most of the time spent working from home but with office attendance from time to time, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Proficient at sourcing publicly available data sources to build site constraints, including USGS 3DEP DEM, State/County LiDAR/GIS data sets, FEMA FIRM linework & maps, NRCS Web Soil Survey, National Wetlands Inventory, National Hydrography Set, etc.
- Organizing and evaluating site diligence (publicly available, GIS and/or surveys) to develop accurate constraints, with a particular focus on environmental, AHJ setback, screening and stormwater requirements
- Familiar with utility-scale photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems equipment and configurations to develop site plans, with an emphasis on constructability and long-term asset management
- Coordinate site layouts with Civil and Electrical Engineers
- Completing site intake and evaluation checklists to facilitate site feasibility, risks and costs
- Implementation and manipulation of digital surveys for use in site layouts (AutoCAD Civil3D surfaces, points, setbacks, buffers, etc)
- Creating & maintaining site constraints maps to represent project buildable area
- Maintain quality and repeatability in designs and engineering processes and deliverables
Qualifications
- Shall have direct and demonstratable experience working for a Developer, EPC or IPP company and understand the specific and unique challenges of a business of our type within the industry
- 5+ years of industry experience in Utility scale sector of Renewables
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, standard GIS tools, Microsoft Office Suite
- Understand the use of software packages PVSyst, PVCase, PVFarm and similar
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, independently and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, with acute attention to detail and can complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
