Civil 3D Road Designer & Drafter | AU | WFH

A mid-level Civil 3D Road Designer will join a specialized engineering team designing critical haul road infrastructure for mining operations across Australia. You'll work directly with senior engineers on projects that keep multi-million-dollar mining sites operational and safe.

THE ROLE

This position focuses exclusively on mining haul road design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, from initial alignment through final construction documentation. You'll be responsible for complete road design packages that contractors rely on for field construction, working with a high degree of independence while collaborating with experienced engineers on complex technical challenges.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Attend daily 8am team meetings and maintain regular communication through Teams and email throughout the day

• Design haul roads for mining sites using AutoCAD Civil 3D, creating alignments, profiles, assemblies, and corridor surfaces with minimal supervision

• Produce final construction drawings and documentation that contractors use for field implementation, ensuring compliance with mining industry standards

• Quantify earthworks, pavement materials, and signage requirements for all road designs to support project costing and procurement

• Conduct auditing of existing mine site road networks, measuring compliance against standards and reporting non-compliant areas

• Process and analyze data from various formats, creating coordinate spreadsheets and technical reports as required

• Collaborate with senior engineers Trevor and Sab on complex design challenges while maintaining independence on routine tasks

WHAT YOU BRING

• Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D including surfaces, alignments, profiles, assemblies, corridors, and targeting methods

• Minimum 5 years of road design and drafting experience, preferably in rural or remote area projects

• Strong English communication skills for client interaction and technical discussions with engineering team

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to seek guidance

• Experience with Microsoft Excel for basic formulas and data manipulation tasks

• Proven track record of producing accurate, compliant technical drawings with attention to drafting standards and conventions
