Role Description The Chief Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Carmona, responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and related systems. This position manages day-to-day maintenance activities, including scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime. The Chief Mechanic supervises mechanics and technicians, ensures adherence to safety and operational standards, and maintains accurate maintenance records and reports. The role involves inspecting equipment performance, troubleshooting complex mechanical problems, and collaborating with operations to prioritize work orders. The Chief Mechanic also supports continuous improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical background with skills in Maintenance, Maintenance & Repair, and Preventive Maintenance.
- Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment and related mechanical systems.
- Advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving mechanical and equipment issues.
- Experience leading or supervising maintenance teams in an industrial or marine environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Relevant technical diploma, vocational certification, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operations and technical teams.
