Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Engineering and Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure all hotel facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house systems are functioning efficiently.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, laundry, elevators, generators, and other mechanical systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and operational issues.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, safety awareness, and high performance within the department.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response procedures related to engineering systems.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage the engineering department budget.
  • Monitor expenses related to maintenance, repairs, utilities, and equipment purchases.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through energy efficiency and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

Project Management

  • Oversee renovation projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
  • Coordinate with contractors and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.

Guest Service

  • Ensure maintenance issues affecting guests are resolved quickly and professionally.
  • Support hotel operations to maintain high guest satisfaction and service quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Licensed Engineer is an advantage (depending on local regulations).
  • Minimum of 58 years of engineering or maintenance experience in hospitality, commercial buildings, or facilities management.
  • At least 23 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with hotel operations and property management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
