Job Description

A leading holding company in the renewable energy sector is seeking a Chief Accountant to establish and maintain the full accounting infrastructure for its portfolio of entities. This foundational role offers the opportunity to shape financial controls from the ground up, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and investor-readiness. You will be instrumental in setting up robust systems before construction spending commences, collaborating closely with senior management and external partners.

What youll do:

As a Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for establishing the financial backbone of the entire portfolio. Your day-to-day activities will involve designing accounting structures that meet both local regulatory requirements and international standards. You will oversee outsourced bookkeeping services to ensure accurate financial reporting for each entity. By leading audit processes and managing statutory filings, you will guarantee compliance across jurisdictions.

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive charts of accounts for all entities, aligning with local statutory requirements, IFRS/local GAAP standards, and lender expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with outsourced bookkeeping services to review monthly, quarterly, and annual standalone financial statements for each entity, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Lead the annual statutory audit process by liaising with external auditors, preparing schedules, managing client lists, and resolving queries promptly to ensure timely issuance of audited statements.
  • Ensure timely filing of all statutory financial statements with relevant authorities in each jurisdiction, maintaining compliance at all times.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced tax advisory firms to guarantee precise calculation and punctual filing of Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT, and Withholding Tax (WHT) in strict alignment with regulations.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers for all special purpose vehicles (SPVs), including capitalization of construction-period costs and classification of asset useful life.
  • Design and operate inter-company cost-recharge frameworks under transfer pricing regulations to allocate personnel costs, shared services, and overheads on a defensible basis.
  • Maintain separate general ledger accounts for each SPV within the ERP system to ensure accurate segregation of project costs, equity drawdowns, and debt service items.
  • Support ERP implementation by defining accounting policies and procedures across all entities and managing day-to-day system use to enforce these policies.
  • Receive, verify, and process vendor invoices from contractors and manage payment runs in the ERP track advance payment recovery process retention entries according to contract milestones.

What you bring:

To excel as a Chief Accountant in this organisations renewable energy portfolio, you will bring proven experience in complex accounting environmentsideally within infrastructure or project finance sectors. Your background should include setting up new accounting functions from scratch: designing charts of accounts tailored to unique business and managing multi-entity structures involving inter-company transactions while ensuring accurate statutory closes.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, and must be a licensed Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • At least 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years at a senior/controller level is required
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CA or CMA are and advantage and IFRS certification or advanced IFRS training is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in infrastructure, energy or project finance environmentsrenewable energy oil & gas or power generation accepted.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up accounting functions from scratch for newly incorporated entities including chart of accounts design, ERP configuration and policy development.
  • Experience managing multi-entity accounting structures with inter-company transactions and standalone statutory close processes.
  • Direct exposure to project finance accounting including CWIP capitalization, drawdown accounting, DSRA/OMRA management and lender covenant reporting.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or upgrading ERP systems such as AX, SAP or Oracle is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel coupled with strong command of IFRS understanding transfer pricing principles for inter-company cost allocation.
