Job Description

JOB ROLE:

Mobile App Development

Build native iOS and Android apps using Bubble's native mobile editor, which produces true native apps rather than wrapped web views.
Design mobile-first interfaces that follow iOS and Android design guidelines, including safe areas, status bars, and platform navigation patterns (tab bars, stack, and modal navigation).
Implement native functionality: push notifications, location services, camera access, and in-app purchases.
Structure the shared data model and backend workflows so web and mobile stay in sync where both exist.
Manage the full publishing pipeline: build generation, App Store and Google Play submission, and the review requirements each store enforces.
Account for older and lower-end devices common among rural users, including known platform limitations on older Android versions.

API Configuration and Integration

Configure and maintain integrations through Bubble's API Connector, both REST and webhook-based.
Handle authentication properly across integrations: API keys, OAuth flows, bearer tokens, and refresh logic where needed.
Build backend workflows and API workflows that other systems can call into, with correct request and response handling.
Manage data mapping and transformation between Bubble and external services so records stay consistent on both sides.
Set up separate development and live API keys and endpoints and keep credentials out of client-side exposure.
Build sensible error handling and retry logic for a mobile context, where connectivity is intermittent and calls fail more often.

Payments and In-App Purchases

Integrate and maintain mobile payment flows, including in-app purchases and the payment gateways appropriate to each platform.
Implement webhooks for payment events so the app's records match the provider's, including failed and disputed charges.
Handle the reconciliation edge cases that break quietly: partial captures, refunds, retries, and out-of-order webhook delivery.
Work within App Store and Google Play billing rules, which differ from web checkout and carry their own review requirements.
Test payment flows in sandbox thoroughly before anything touches live keys and confirm the live cutover deliberately rather than by accident.

QA and Testing

Test builds on real iOS and Android devices, not just in preview, since native behavior differs across devices and OS versions.
Cover core flows, edge cases, and failure paths, including offline behavior and poor connectivity common in rural service areas.
Verify workflows behave correctly across user roles and privacy rules, since a misconfigured rule is a data leak, not just a bug.
Test payment and API integrations end to end, including what happens when the external call fails or times out.
Verify each build against store review requirements before submission to avoid rejection and delay.
Document how to test each build so someone else can verify it without reverse-engineering it.

Monitoring

Set up logging and monitoring on published apps so failures surface quickly, especially on payments and API integrations.
Configure alerting on the things that matter failed payments, broken webhooks, workflow errors, and crashes.
Watch Bubble workload and capacity so a runaway workflow doesn't quietly run up cost or degrade performance.
Track integration health and respond when a third-party service or store platform changes.
Keep enough visibility into production that you find the problem before a user reports it.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Bubble Developer Certification. Because the certification is retaken yearly, we're looking for a recent one.
Demonstrated experience building and publishing native mobile apps with Bubble's native mobile editor, or a very recent and credible transition into it from Bubble web work.
A portfolio of live mobile apps you have built, ideally published to the App Store or Google Play, that you can walk us through. Please include links or store listings.
Strong grasp of Bubble's data model, workflows, privacy rules, and mobile navigation model.
Hands-on experience with the API Connector, REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows.
Direct experience with mobile payments or in-app purchases in a live app, including webhook handling.
A tested, monitored approach to shipping, rather than build-and-hope.
Awareness of Bubble's mobile workload pricing and how to build without running up cost.
Clear communication and the judgment to tell us when Bubble is the wrong tool for a given request.
