Role Overview
The Category Strategy Manager is responsible for driving category growth through strategic planning, portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration. The role leads category performance reviews, identifies growth opportunities, and ensures successful execution of commercial initiatives and product launches aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Performance
- Develop and execute category growth strategies aligned with commercial objectives
- Lead Annual Business Planning (ABP) and Long-Range Planning (LRP) initiatives
- Conduct regular category performance reviews, competitive analysis, and market assessments
- Identify category growth opportunities and recommend strategic interventions
- Manage category P&L and ensure delivery of financial targets
- Partner with Revenue Growth Management (RGM) teams on pricing and pack architecture strategies
- Track innovation and NPL performance to ensure healthy category growth
- Build business cases for innovation projects and strategic initiatives
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations teams to align category priorities
- Present category strategies and recommendations to senior leadership teams
- Lead category governance meetings and planning forums
- Ensure alignment between local commercial priorities and regional/global initiatives
- Drive stakeholder engagement and decision-making support across functions
Product Launch & Commercialization
- Lead end-to-end planning and execution of New Product Launches (NPLs)
- Develop launch volume projections, sell-in decks, and sales toolkits
- Coordinate artwork development, POSM approvals, and launch assets
- Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure launch readiness
- Develop sampling, employee engagement, and activation strategies
- Monitor launch timelines, supportability requirements, and deployment readiness
