Scope: First/Health Aid (FHA), Topical Analgesic (TA), Home Care, and Non-OTC Medication (Non-OTC Meds)
Role Purpose
To manage and drive the strategic and commercial performance of the First/Health Aid, Topical Analgesic, Home Care, and Non-OTC Medication categories, which account for approximately SGD40 million in annual sales. This role is critical for category growth, operational continuity, and managing key public health and retail initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Strategy and Commercial Performance
- Manage the category portfolio (FHA, TA, Home Care, Non-OTC Meds) to achieve annual sales of approximately SGD40 million.
- Commercial Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive category plans focused on driving sales and improving margin performance, particularly for Medication and Topical Analgesic classes.
- Data Analysis & Trends: Monitor, understand, and analyze sales data to identify growing market trends, assess market share performance, and pinpoint areas for sales and Gross Profit (GP) improvement.
- Financial Literacy: Ability to read and interpret financial reports and translate commercial insights into strategic actions
- Strategic Sense: Strong organizational skills and strategic business sense necessary to develop and implement an optimum product mix, competitive pricing strategy, and promotional plans
- Agility and Proactivity: Initiative-taking, agile, and able to thrive in a fast-moving retail environment. This is critical for proactively managing inventory issues (OOS/SOH) and ensuring smooth operational continuity
2. Public Health and Operational Readiness
- Government Liaison: Serve as the primary correspondent with the Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding COVID and Haze readiness and internal communications.
- Stockpile Management: Ensure a sufficient stockpile is maintained for emergency and seasonal items, including COVID-related test kits and masks.
- Operational Excellence: Proactively manage inventory, address Out-of-Stock (OOS) and high Stock On Hand (SOH) issues, and ensure smooth new product transitions
3. Strategic Projects and Growth
- Drive targeted sales growth for the Topical Analgesic category in designated tourist stores.
- Support the Active Living project at Hyper stores by managing and providing input on Mobots and homecare equipment.
- Lead the finalization and execution of the Category Management Excellence (CMX) review for First/Health Aid (FHA) and Topical Analgesic (TA) categories (Wave 4/5), with the review due shortly.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., merchandising, supply chain, and operations) as well as external government bodies
5. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all promotional activities and advertisements adhere to strict controls under the Health Products Act (HPA) and Medicines Act (MA), particularly for Topical Analgesics and Medicinal Products.
6. Professional and Behavioral Traits
- Problem-Solving: Resourceful and a strong problem solver, with good business judgment to make decisions under ambiguity.
- Detail-Oriented: Motivated, meticulous, and results-oriented, which is essential given the regulatory nature of medication and the tight deadline of the CMX review.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in Category Management, preferably within the Personal Care or Health Care sectors.
- Experience in retail environments such as Unity, Watsons, or Guardian is desirable.
- Pharmacist training or a background related to medication and health aid products would be a distinct
