Job Overview
We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially driven
Category Development Lead to drive category growth, shopper engagement, and channel excellence across key accounts. This role will be responsible for developing category strategies, generating actionable shopper insights, and partnering with Sales, Marketing, and Trade teams to deliver sustainable business growth.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in Category Management, Shopper Marketing, or Trade Marketing within the FMCG or Beverage industry and possesses a deep understanding of consumer behavior, retail dynamics, and category performance analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category development strategies aligned with business objectives, brand priorities, and market opportunities.
- Analyze shopper behavior, market trends, and category performance to identify growth opportunities and strategic recommendations.
- Translate shopper and consumer insights into actionable category plans, selling stories, merchandising solutions, and retail execution strategies.
- Lead category reviews and business planning sessions with internal stakeholders and key customers.
- Develop and implement channel-specific category growth initiatives and retail strategies.
- Collaborate with Sales teams to strengthen customer partnerships through category-driven recommendations and insights.
- Lead trade marketing planning, including annual promotional calendars, in-store activations, displays, and point-of-sale initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate category performance, promotional effectiveness, and return on trade investments.
- Establish performance tracking frameworks and deliver post-activity evaluations to identify learnings and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner closely with Brand, Sales, Trade Marketing, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment and execution excellence.
- Prepare business reviews, category presentations, and strategic recommendations for senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Economics, or any related field.
- Master's Degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Category Development, Trade Marketing, Shopper Marketing, or Category Management within the FMCG or Beverage industry.
- Strong expertise in category management, shopper behavior analysis, retail execution, and trade marketing.
- Experience working with syndicated data, retail audits, and market intelligence tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into business recommendations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and drive collaboration across multiple teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
Preferred Background
Candidates from leading FMCG, food, beverage, or consumer goods companies with experience in category management, shopper marketing, or trade marketing functions are highly preferred.
