Description
The CAD Operator (MEPF) is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software to support engineering and architectural projects. This role plays a key part in the preparation of construction plans, layouts, and other schematics based on specifications provided by engineers and project managers.
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD or other CAD software.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand design intent and project requirements.
- Modify existing drawings to reflect design changes and ensure drawings are up to date.
- Prepare construction/shop drawings, as-built plans, and other technical documents.
- Maintain organized records of all drawings and revisions.
- Conduct site visits (as required) to gather necessary measurements and information.
- Ensure drawings comply with local building codes, industry standards, and company policies.
Requirements
- Graduate of a technical drafting course or related field (e.g., BS Architecture, BS Civil Engineering is a plus).
- Proven experience as a CAD Operator or Draftsman in a construction or engineering firm.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software.
- Knowledge of construction methods and terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Experience with BIM software like Revit or SketchUp.
- Familiarity with project documentation and architectural detailing.
- Prior experience working in a general contracting environment.
