Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented CAD Drafter with strong AutoDesk Inventor experience to produce precise 3D solid models and 2D drawings of bent metal parts from supplied job cards. This role demands deep familiarity with bend geometry and sheet metal fabrication, along with the ability to nest full order quantities and generate accurate load layouts for shipping. The ideal candidate is meticulous, technically skilled, and comfortable working to clearly defined drafting, file-naming, and nesting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create accurate 3D solid models and 2D drawings of bent metal parts in AutoDesk Inventor Professional 2026 from supplied job cards
  • Interpret job card specifications including bend radius and angle, chord and arc length, mid-coordinate inspection values, and end tangents
  • Export each part as a STEP (.stp) file and DWG (.dwg), and produce ISO drawings per part
  • Nest full order quantities and generate one nested model and one DWG per order
  • Produce load layout drawings showing parts arranged on an 8-foot-wide trailer at the required length
  • Flag any load that exceeds the 8-foot width limit as over-width
  • Verify model accuracy against mid-coordinate inspection values
  • Maintain file-naming, drawing, and nesting standards as defined during onboarding
  • Apply knowledge of sheet metal and structural fabrication geometry to ensure parts are manufacturable

Mandatory Skills:

  • Proven experience with AutoDesk Inventor Professional (current version required)
  • Strong command of bend geometry: radius, angle, chord, arc length, mid-coordinates, and tangents
  • Experience producing 3D solid models and 2D production drawings of metal parts
  • Ability to export and manage STEP, DWG, and ISO drawing files
  • Experience with part nesting and load/layout drawings
  • Familiarity with sheet metal or structural fabrication geometry
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Background in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or structural engineering environments
  • Experience planning shipping or load layouts, including over-width or oversized loads
  • Familiarity with inspection workflows and dimensional verification
  • Ability to manage multiple orders and drawing sets simultaneously

Why Join Us:

This is a great opportunity to apply your technical drafting skills in a hands-on role where precision genuinely matters. You'll work with a team that values accuracy and craftsmanship, with clear standards and room to grow your responsibilities over time.
