CAD Designer Job Description
A CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Designer is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, plans, and layouts using CAD software to support engineering, architecture, construction, manufacturing, or interior design projects. The role ensures accuracy, functionality, and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Prepare 2D and 3D drawings, layouts, and technical plans using CAD software.
- Convert concepts, sketches, and specifications into detailed working drawings.
- Revise and update designs based on feedback from engineers, architects, or project managers.
- Ensure drawings meet technical standards and project requirements.
Project Coordination
- Work closely with engineering, sales, operations, and project teams.
- Interpret design briefs, technical specifications, and client requirements.
- Support project planning by providing design documentation and visual presentations.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and design files.
- Ensure designs comply with safety standards, building codes, and company guidelines.
- Prepare technical reports, material specifications, and design documentation.
Quality & Accuracy
- Review drawings for errors, completeness, and consistency.
- Conduct measurements and site verification when necessary.
- Ensure precision in dimensions, scaling, and technical details.
Technical Support
- Assist production, installation, or construction teams with technical drawings.
- Provide design solutions to improve efficiency and functionality.
- Stay updated with new CAD technologies, tools, and industry trends.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Drafting, Industrial Design, or related field.
- Proven experience as a CAD Designer, Draftsman, or similar role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Revit).
- Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and design principles.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
