Job Description

**This is a full-time independent contractor role. Candidates must be able to commit exclusively to this position and not engage in part-time or freelance work once hired.**

CLIENT BACKGROUND

The client is a Canada-based accounting firm located in Montreal, Quebec, serving small business owners with approximately $500K–$3M in annual revenue. The firm provides ongoing bookkeeping, tax support, invoicing and bill pay management, financial reporting, and month-end support through a fixed monthly fee model. Depending on client needs, bookkeeping services may be provided on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

The company operates in a highly client-focused environment where responsiveness and strong communication are essential. Bookkeepers act as the primary point of contact for clients, so the team values professionals who are independent, solution-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing direct client communication while continuously seeking process improvements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks
  • Managing month-end and year-end bookkeeping activities
  • Preparing financial statements and supporting financial reporting
  • Performing reconciliations and maintaining accurate records
  • Handles sales tax filings, invoicing, and bill payments
  • Managing assigned client communications through shared support inboxes
  • Responding to client concerns and requests in a timely manner
  • Supporting help desk management and operational workflows
  • Collaborating with internal team members to improve workflows and documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of Canadian/U.S. bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Dext
  • Strong bookkeeping fundamentals
  • Comfortable handling multiple clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Personal equipment required
  • Reliable, stable and high-speed internet
  • Work Environment: with secluded workstation to ensure a private and distraction free space
