The Buyer for the Frozen category is responsible for managing the sourcing, assortment planning, and supplier relationships for frozen food products. This role ensures product availability, competitive pricing, and strong supplier partnerships while maintaining efficient inventory management and cold chain standards.
The Buyer will analyze market trends, monitor category performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive category growth and improve profitability.
Category Management
- Manage the assortment and product mix for frozen food products including frozen meats, seafood, ready-to-cook items, and frozen packaged goods
- Identify new product opportunities and introduce new brands or SKUs based on market demand
- Analyze sales performance and customer preferences to optimize category assortment
Supplier Sourcing & Negotiation
- Identify and onboard suppliers for frozen food products
- Negotiate product pricing, supply agreements, trade terms, and promotional support
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure stable supply and competitive offerings
Inventory & Supply Planning
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock availability
- Coordinate with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure proper cold chain handling
- Manage replenishment strategies to balance availability and inventory turnover
Pricing & Promotions
- Develop pricing strategies based on competitor analysis and company margin targets
- Collaborate with marketing teams to execute promotional campaigns and product launches
Market & Competitor Analysis
- Monitor competitor product offerings, pricing, and promotions within the frozen category
- Identify opportunities to improve category competitiveness and sales growth
Performance Monitoring
- Track key performance indicators including sales, margins, supplier performance, and inventory turnover
- Recommend strategies to enhance category profitability and growth
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 35 years of experience in buying, procurement, or category management, preferably in retail or FMCG
- Experience handling frozen food or packaged food categories is an advantage
- Strong experience in supplier negotiation and vendor management
