Job Description

Job Summary

The Business Unit Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial management, reporting, controls, and performance analysis of assigned business operations. The role provides financial insights and recommendations to management, supports business planning and decision-making, and ensures compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.

The position will work closely with business unit leaders and finance teams to monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, strengthen controls, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business and operational decisions.

Prepare and review management reports covering revenue, margins, operating expenses, profitability, and other key financial indicators.

Analyze actual financial performance against budget, forecast, and business targets.

Identify financial and operational gaps and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Oversee month-end closing activities and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Review balance sheet accounts, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial information.

Implement and monitor internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, government regulations, and company policies.

Conduct financial and operational control reviews and identify areas of risk.

Monitor cash flow and support effective cash and treasury management.

Develop financial models, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for business initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, controls, and overall finance operations.

Work closely with Business Unit Heads and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and business insights.

Lead, coach, and develop finance and accounting team members.

Support management with financial projects, business reviews, and other finance-related initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, financial reporting, controlling, FP&A, audit, or financial management.

Experience as a Business Unit Controller, Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role is preferred.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, and internal controls.

Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to interpret financial information and translate it into actionable business recommendations.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.

Experience with ERP or financial management systems.

Strong understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino.

Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Willing to work onsite daily in Libis, Quezon City.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in retail, consumer, distribution, multi-site, or fast-moving business environments.

Experience working directly with senior management and business unit leaders.

Strong business partnering and commercial finance experience.

Demonstrated experience in improving financial processes and internal controls.
