About the Role:
The Business Development Regional Officer (SME) is responsible for driving growth of the company's fintech products and services within the assigned region, focusing on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The role involves acquiring new SME clients, building strategic partnerships, expanding merchant networks, and achieving revenue and portfolio growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Growth & Revenue Generation
Identify, target, and onboard SME clients within the assigned region.Drive adoption of fintech products such as digital payments, POS solutions, lending products, mobile wallets, payroll solutions, or other financial platforms.Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and revenue targets.Develop and execute regional business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with SME owners, decision-makers, and key stakeholders.Conduct product presentations, demos, and consultative sales meetings.Provide ongoing support to clients to ensure product usage and retention.Resolve client issues in coordination with internal teams (operations, credit, tech support).
3. Market Development & Intelligence
Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities, competitor activities, and emerging trends.Map key industries and business clusters within the region.Provide regular feedback to management on market dynamics and product performance.
4. Partnerships & Channel Development
Develop partnerships with business associations, aggregators, distributors, and other ecosystem players.Organize and participate in SME forums, trade events, and networking activities.Collaborate with marketing teams to execute regional campaigns.
5. Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
Monitor performance of SME accounts and ensure healthy portfolio growth.Support credit risk assessment and collection processes (where applicable).Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
6. Reporting & Performance Tracking
Maintain accurate sales pipeline and client records in CRM systems.Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.Track KPIs including client acquisition, revenue growth, product adoption, and retention rates.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field.3–5+ years of experience in business development, SME banking, fintech, or financial services.Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.Experience in digital payments, lending, or financial products is highly desirable.Strong understanding of SME market dynamics.
