□ Job Summary * Business Development Officer
The Business Development Officer (Renewable Energy & Power) will drive the expansion of Samsung C&T's energy portfolio in the Philippines. This role focuses on identifying, sourcing, and securing high-value utility-scale power projects and infrastructure assets in advanced energy sectors, including Pumped-Storage Hydropower, Geothermal, Wind, and Gas Turbines.
The ideal candidate will leverage deep industry networks to evaluate Independent Power Producer (IPP) investment opportunities from a developer perspective, manage relationships with local power generation companies (GenCos), and coordinate competitive bidding processes for EPC contracts, power purchase mechanisms, and co-development partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developer Asset Sourcing: Identify and secure strategic business opportunities across the Philippine energy sector, with emphasis on Pumped Storage Hydropower, Combined Cycle Gas Power Plants/Turbines (CCPP/CCGT), LNG-to-Power, Waste-to-Energy (WtE), Wind Power and other renewable and emerging energy technologies.
- IPP & Market Intelligence: Discover early-stage project leads, track Department of Energy (DOE) competitive bidding tracks (GEA/Green Energy Auction), and monitor private GenCo asset expansion plans.
- Tender & Commercial Analysis: Conduct meticulous reviews of Technical Specifications, Offtake Frameworks, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Power Supply Agreements (PSAs), and EPC Bidding Books.
- Bid Coordination: Manage the Company's participation in renewable energy and power sector tenders, competitive bidding activities, unsolicited proposals, and other business development opportunities aligned with Samsung C&T's growth strategy and support the technical, legal, and financial packaging of bids, ensuring seamless integration between local commercial requirements and Samsung C&T headquarters engineering teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with project developers, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, government agencies, technology providers (OEMs), and strategic partners to establish long-term business opportunities.
- Project Structuring Support: Assist in evaluating developer-side commercial feasibility, grid connection availability, land/concession security, and local IPP joint-venture frameworks.
□ Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field.
- Sector Experience: Minimum 5 years of solid experience working with Power Generation Companies (GenCos), Renewable Energy Developers, Energy Consultancies, or related EPC/IPP firms.
- Developer & IPP Competence: Proven background working on the developer side of power assets, with a strong understanding of project origination, land acquisition, concession security, and joint-venture positioning.
- Power Purchase Knowledge: Deep foundational knowledge of Independent Power Producer (IPP) operational structures, Independent Power Purchase mechanics, project finance, merchant power vs. contracted configurations, and off-take optimization strategies.
- Asset Exposure: Proven experience or strong exposure to the development lifecycle of Pumped-Hydro, Geothermal, Wind, or Large Turbine Baseload power plants and other renewable and emerging energy technologies
- Philippine Energy Regulations: Strong understanding of the Philippine energy regulatory landscape, including DOE policies, ERC regulations, NGCP interconnection requirements, Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP), Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), and other policies affecting power generation investments.
- Permitting & Compliance: Familiarity with the permitting and compliance lifecycle for complex energy projects (e.g., SIS/System Impact Studies, ECC, WESC/RESC concessions, and LGU clearances).
- Technical & Financial Aptitude: Competence in reviewing basic technical layouts, project feasibility reports, and high-level financial parameters and project finance models.

- Strong analytical mind with a proactive approach to hunting new project leads, power off-takers, and market intelligence from an owner-developer perspective.
- Advanced proficiency in interpreting commercial IPP contracts, risk-allocation matrices, and financial/technical project metrics (IRR, NPV, DSCR).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with technical engineers, corporate executives, and regulatory officers.
- Self-motivated and capable of driving multiple project evaluations simultaneously under tight timelines.
- Adaptable and eager to master new energy asset classes and technical configurations outside of standard solar setups.
