Job Description

Who We Are

GrowthAssistant connects top marketing and operations talent with fast-growing companies that depend on great execution to scale. Founded in 2021 and named by Forbes as one of the best startups to work at, we're a permanently remote team that runs on integrity, proactive candor, and a bias toward action — and we prioritize the human experience in everything we do. We hire for skill and for heart, and we invest in our people for the long haul.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Business Development Assistant to power the agent outreach engine for a fast-growing insurtech company specializing in specialty personal-lines insurance distributed through a nationwide channel of independent agents and agencies. This is a phone-forward, high-activity role: you'll reconnect with agents after conferences, events, and webinars while the conversation is still warm, chase down the appointment paperwork that stalls halfway through, and re-engage the agents who haven't quoted or written business in a while — then log every touch cleanly in the portal and CRM so nothing slips. You'll work side by side with the Channel Lead, preparing dossiers ahead of key calls, joining Zoom conversations to capture notes and objections, sending crisp recaps with clear next steps and owners, and surfacing the daily focus lists that tell the team exactly who to call next. If you're the kind of Sales Development or Inside Sales professional who genuinely enjoys picking up the phone, who stays composed and confident even when a call takes an unexpected turn, and who never lets a lead or a task quietly drop, you'll thrive here — and you'll see your work show up directly in appointments completed, documents collected, and agents reactivated.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • Agent Outreach & Follow-Up: Call independent agents and agencies daily to reconnect after conferences and events, reintroduce the company, follow up on interest shown at events, webinars, or inbound inquiries, and confirm next steps for appointments, quoting, and documentation — prioritizing outreach within 48–72 hours of an event while the relationship is still warm.
  • Reactivation Campaigns: Run additional outbound calling campaigns to agents who haven't completed appointment paperwork, agents who haven't quoted or written business in a while, and offices where the primary agent may have missed an email — speaking with CSRs, office managers, and other producers to find the right path in.
  • Pipeline & CRM Management: Enter and update lead and agent information from business cards, spreadsheets, and event lists into the company's portal, CRM, and supporting tools, keeping clean, accurate records of agent contact details, agency information, appointment status (DocuSign sent/signed, missing documents), and quoting and binding activity.
  • Portal Monitoring & Focus Lists: Monitor the portal to spot agents who started but never finished the appointment process, agents who wrote a policy but still owe documentation, and agents who haven't quoted within a defined time frame — then proactively surface focus lists for the Channel Lead, such as top agents to call today or agents stalled at a specific stage.
  • Call Preparation & Dossiers: Build simple, useful dossiers ahead of key calls — LinkedIn profile, agency website, key notes from the portal, and prior activity — so every conversation starts with context.
  • Call Support & Recaps: Join selected Zoom and phone calls with the Channel Lead to take notes and document action items, capture agent feedback, objections, and follow-ups, and send recap emails or internal summaries afterward with clear next steps and owners.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate calendar invites and help book follow-up meetings for agents who want to learn more or need additional support.
  • Reporting & Process Improvement: Track daily and weekly outreach activity and outcomes (calls made, conversations held, appointments completed, documents collected, agents reactivated), share recurring agent questions and blockers with the Channel Lead and internal team, and suggest small process improvements that make the agent experience smoother and the follow-up machine more efficient.

What You Bring

  • Industry Background: Experience in insurance — especially personal lines such as home, auto, or jewelry — or in a similar vertical such as financial services.
  • Sales Development Track Record: 3+ years in Sales Development, Business Development, Inside Sales, or Appointment Setting, with high-volume outbound calling and follow-up on leads from events, inbound channels, or marketing campaigns — plus proven success booking meetings, moving leads through a pipeline, and hitting SDR/BDR KPIs.
  • Phone Presence & Communication: Excellent spoken and written English with a neutral or very clear accent, comfort spending 4+ hours per day on the phone with agents, office staff, and other stakeholders, and a confident, friendly, professional presence that stays composed and in control even when you're unsure.
  • CRM & Portal Fluency: Hands-on experience using CRMs and/or portals to log calls, update statuses, and manage a pipeline — Salesforce, HubSpot, Ontraport, or similar.
  • Organization & Ownership: Strong organizational skills and high follow-through — you don't let tasks or agents drop — paired with high coachability and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
  • Schedule Availability: Ability to work full-time on U.S. Central Time (CST).

Bonus Points if:

  • You have experience in insurance product services.
  • You've worked with independent agents or agencies, or in an insurance carrier or broker environment.

Salary Range: $7.50 - $10.50/hour (Final offer based on skills and experience matched to role requirements)
